We ended the day at the Castello Di Verrazzano, a former castle turned into a winery.  Our guide explained that the castles were built on hills because every other castle was an enemy, including this one just across a small valley.  Greve in Chianti, Florence, Italy.

September 28, 2013 - Lady in Volterra

We were waiting in the main square of Volterra, Italy, when I saw this lady sitting on a bench by a building.  I jestered asking if it was OK if I took her photo and she gave me a signal that was something like "ya, ya sure".  But then she started digging in her purse.  I waited until she was done with that and then waited for her to look directly at me.  She never did!  This was the best pose I could get out of her!
