May 30, 2013 - "Blue Hole"

I've heard of the "Black Hole", but not the "Blue Hole"!  The skies were looking pretty ominous this evening for a while.  I took this shot of a blue spot in the clouds with a jet's vapor trail through it from my driveway.  I left the tree in the frame to add some perspective.

May 26, 2013 - Remembering

We made our annual Memorial Day weekend visit to Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, today.  Although the skies were heavily overcast, I was able to get some acceptable photos.  As I was thinking about leaving, I noticed this gentleman get out of his car in his military clothing and carrying flowers.  I waited anticipating a great shot of him placing the flowers on a grave, but he just kept walking! Finally he bent down and placed the flowers on a grave and had the person with him take his picture next to the grave.  He was obviously remembering someone special!

May 24, 2013 - Springbrook Nature Center

This is an open plains area of Springbrook Nature Center in Fridley, Minnesota.  As we approached the area, a person leading a group of students mentioned to us that a large number of swallows had come into the area and were darting around catching bugs.  It's difficult to pick them out in this photo.
